Here is another view on recently released numbers, this one coming from local Steve Brown at Dallas Morning News, he takes a more accurate look at year to year pricing:

Area home prices had their largest year-over-year increase ever recorded in the Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller Home Price Index.

Prices were up 8 percent in June after previously setting an index record in May.

Home prices are now almost 3 percent higher than at the peak of the market in June 2007 — while gaining more than 15 percent in value from their worst in 2009.

Nationally, prices were up 10.1 percent, with some markets recording especially high numbers, including Las Vegas (up 24.9 percent) and San Francisco (up 24.5 percent).
